What’s Next
Now that you have read all the helpful information we provided, you may find yourself wondering what to do next.
Prior to calling ANY contractors, there are a few things that you need to know.
- Never sign anything on the day you get the estimate. The only reason a high-pressure salesperson needs you to sign the contract right now is because his price is too high and he does not want you to talk to any other bidders. If you do not sign and they start lowering the price, and insisting this is a one-day deal, or any similar shenanigans, send them packing. Any legitimate company will allow you plenty of time to make your decision. At Mudjack Mania ™ there’s no high-pressure sales. We give you a no nonsense estimate that includes all labor and materials required to complete your project. We don’t show up expecting you to make a commitment. We are here when you decide what’s best for you whether it’s today, next week, next month, or even next year.
- Never give anyone a deposit or monies up front. Any legitimate contractor should be able to purchase whatever is needed to complete your project. It’s hard to be ripped off when you have not handed out any money. Most salespeople insist on a check up front, mostly because that’s their commission. At Mudjack Mania ™ we never ask for any money up front. We feel like when the project is completed, you can see what you’re paying for.
- Never obligate yourself for any work without a firm total price up front. Many contractors have clauses to cover themselves in the event of unforeseen situations. These may include additional materials required to complete your project. At Mudjack Mania ™ our estimate includes all the labor and materials required to complete your project (except for requested change orders). There are never any surprises or additional fees.
Now that you know what not to do, here’s what we think you should do.
- Get several estimates. Here at Mudjack Mania ™ we think you should allow everyone interested to give you their opinion and price. How can you be expected to make an informed decision if you only get one opinion and price? Different people with different skillsets will typically offer different options. Only you can decide what fits your situation best. Don’t let some pushy salesperson tell you what to think.
- Look into all options. Sometimes it’sbetter to repair things and sometimes it’s better to replace things. The only way to know which option is best for you is to talk to people and get prices. We encourage people to ask a lot of questions. Sometimes two seemingly alike bids do not include the same things. It’s your job to make sure you’re getting all that you need for the best price.
- Make sure your contractor has the proper experience required. Many companies now days are franchises. If a person buys a franchise it may come with a well-known name, but that does not give anyone any experience. No one wants a person learning how to lift concrete on their job. When you call Mudjack Mania ™ you talk directly to Dennis with over 50 years’ experience. Dennis is the guy who will come to give you an estimate. If you decide to allow Mudjack Mania ™ to do your job, Dennis will be there doing it. If you have questions, Dennis will be there to answer them.
So how do you know if you’re getting the best deal?
